Max Gimblett Painting1973

In the early 1970s I worked for Max Gimbett helping set up his studio on the Bowrey. I learned to make stretchers and stretch canvas. He gifted me a painting that has been with me until 2012 when I moved out of the loft. It has bee hidden away in storage. I contacted his gallery Goe Lanford in Aukland New Zealand. They have agreed to find a buyer.

I am delighted to have work included in the fall exhibitions at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale.

Scott Covert, a legendary figure within the eighties East Village art scene, forms his abstract compositions through the Victorian tradition of grave rubbing, in which an impression is lifted from the honorary reliefs on tombstones.
